Travel Information

For the Melbourne people we fly to Sydney then take a train or if there are enough people, rent a car/van and drive down to Woolongong (CAMPUS EAST - Innovation Campus).

Some people might like to fly up on the Tuesday before hand or stay over till Saturaday.

The ticker prices vary according to when you fly. 6:30 AM flights are much cheaper than 8 AM flights. Flights up on Tuesday night are also much cheaper than Wednesday Morning flights. Flights back on Saturday are cheaper than flights back on Friday night.

Martin and Lyle are going on the following flight+(trains or hire car/van) if you want to come along...

  • Probably leaving Melbourne Uni via taxi at 1:00pm Tuesday 23/11 .
  • Qantas flight at 2:30pm Melbourne to Sydney (cost approx $100)

The following links may help:

  • Sydney City Rail map
  • Getting to UofW - train
  • Specific timetables for the routes you will probably need can be found here. The simplest and fastest (I've checked) route is to travel via train from Airport Domestic to Central to Fairy Meadow or North Wollongong.
    • Airport & East Hills suburban line timetable.
You will need to take this line from the Airport Domestic station to the Central station towards Town Hall. Trains run on weekdays every 5 to 10 minutes from 5:18am until 11:56pm. Travel time is 10 minutes.
    • South Coast intercity line timetable.
You will need to take this line from Central station to "Fairy Meadow" station towards Bomaderry or Port Kembla. Only a few trains stop at "Fairy Meadow" so you may have to get off at "North Wollongong" station. Fairy Meadow is closer to Campus East, where the conferrence will be.
      • Travel time on the Wollongong Hurstville route can take 1 hour and 40 minutes. Express trains are only 15 minutes quicker.
      • NOTE: Some trains on this line do not go through Wollongong so check the timetable.
      • NOTE: The weekend timetable is different. Please check it at the above link.
    • Allow up to 2 hours and 10 minutes for your total train journey.
    • Total train fare will cost $17.60 (Single Trip adult ticket).
    • UofW Transport Info
    • Download a Wollongong map. We are at Innovation Campus (Campus East).
    • [[http://www.uow.edu.au/about/campusmap/UOW_CampusMap.pdf][Download a Campus map.] We are on the off-campus map, at Campus East (Innovation Campus).
